Food Deserts Need Fitness Too!

Chicora-Cherokee is not only a food desert but also a ‘place desert.’ In the two years that Metanoia has worked to grow the community garden, we believe that creating a sustainable growing space offers more than a meal. We’ll grow more than healthy lifestyles; we’re striving to grow healthy relationships. Your investment will help transform unused space around our garden into a stunning new community fitness hub where fitness and fresh, healthy food are easily accessible. Your support will empower people to embrace healthy lifestyle choices, set positive examples for our young people and strengthen community pride in the heart of southern North Charleston. Metanoia will recognize all donors with permanent, dedicated marker. For the donor who contributes the bulk of the $17,000 needed for the fitness stations, we would name this component of the playground in their honor and acknowledge them with permanent signage.
